The Care, Gender and Citizenship Network is made up of a group of researchers specialised in the areas of care, global chains and transnational care, gender and citizenship. Work on creating this network began back in 2009 within the framework of the I Congress of the Spanish Social Policy Network (REPS), when for the first time ever in Spain, a panel brought together the scant scientific contributions in these fields that existed at that time and published a monographic study in the specialised journal ‘Alternativas. Cuadernos de Trabajo Social’ (issue no. 17, 2010). The members of this panel agreed to meet on a regular basis in order to address theoretical approaches to the study of these issues and to present the results of their individual research. The creation of this network arose as a result of these scientific meetings and debates.

The main aim of the network is to provide a space for the presentation of the principal scientific publications and activities in the fields of care, gender and citizenship in order to strengthen and consolidate these areas of research in Spain’s academic community, whilst at the same time providing our work with an international voice.
